Alexandria— Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, will discuss in the coming episode of "Cairo Salon" TV Show, aired every Saturday following the 9 o’clock news bulletin, the role of blogs and facebook in introducing new patterns of electronic press.

Dr. Serageldin will host in this episode a group of experts in this field, including: Mr. Ayman El-Sayyad, Editor in Chief, Weghat Nazar (Points of View) Magazine; Dr. Sherif El-Labban, Professor, Department of Journalism, Faculty of Mass Communications, Cairo University; and Ms. Amina Khairi, Journalist, El-Hayat Newspaper.

It is worth mentioning that the Internet opened new channels for establishing electronic news bulletins issued by individuals, who are not necessarily journalists, called “blogs”. Blogs play crucial role in the International and Arab press and explore important controversial issues.

Lately, the phenomenon of Facebook was widely spread. Facebook is a website created to strengthen social relationships and exchange news, photos, and video clips. It now contains millions of users from all around the world. It changed from a social instrument to a main player in the political arena through mobilizing people to confront different pressing issues.
