Children and Young People Summer Programs

The BA holds different activities for children and young people during the summer vacation, for different age groups and suiting different tastes and skills.
 

The BA Planetarium Science Center (PSC) holds its summer program for the age group 4 to 16 years old from 25 May till 4 September 2014. The program includes various activities, such as practical experiments, scientific contests, lectures, and Planetarium and Auditorium shows, in addition to the Chess Club, the Electronics and Robotics Program, the Astronomy Club, and a special Parents Program. The BA Children’s Library holds its summer program for the age group 6 to 11 years old from 18 May to 11 August 2014. Click here for more information in Arabic, and here for online registration.

For the twelfth successive year, the BA Antiquities Museum organizes its Summer Program from 1 June to 5 September 2014, targeting children and youth from 9 to 17 years old. The Program comprises artistic development, raises awareness of antiquity, and makes learning fun. It grants opportunities for searching, experimenting, and practicing scientific creativity with the antiquities at hand. Participants carry out various artistic works using different methods and materials; for example, painting on canvas, drawing on glass, drawing on plexiglass, gypsum etching, linoleum etching, salt etching, clay art, copper hammering, playdough art, cork art, charcoal art and acrylic colors, gouache and aquarelle colors, pastel colors, and glass and ceramic colors. An Admission Test is required, and an Exhibition showcasing participants’ works is to be held at the end of the Program. Online registration (in Arabic) is open from Wednesday, 28 May 2014. The BA Writing and Scripts Center, in cooperation with the Children and Young People Libraries, holds a summer workshop for children and young people from 9 to 15 years old. The Mystery of Ancient Languages Workshop aims at teaching children and young people basics of ancient languages and scripts such as Hieroglyphic, Ancient Greek, and Coptic languages, in addition to glimpse of culture and society at the time. The workshop utilizes educational games, puzzles and hand crafts. The Mystery of Arabic Calligraphy Aesthetics Workshop teaches the types of Arabic Calligraphies, how to create a composition using different types, besides archeological and historical interactive activities. The BA Child and Adolescent Creative Unit holds a summer program for the age group 5 to 18 years. Registration starts on Monday 2 June for the age group 5 to 7 years, and on Wednesday 4 June 2014 for the age group 8 to 18 years, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Child and Adolescent Creative Unit premises: 16 Iman street, Roushdy. Priority is given to early registration and it requires the presence of the applicant or their guardians, along with copies of applicant’s birth certificate.
