The BA Adds “Da'em” Widget to its Website
Posted on
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina has launched the “Da’em” widget on its official website, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID). This collaboration aims to break down digital barriers by harnessing artificial intelligence solutions and assistive technologies, ensuring that people with disabilities have complete independence in accessing information and effectively enhancing their digital presence.
The tool relies on an advanced user interface that allows users to customize their experience according to individual needs when browsing websites. It includes several technologies, such as:
Text-to-speech: to read text and content for the blind and visually impaired.
Text adjustment: the ability to enlarge fonts and adjust spacing to suit the user.
Color contrast: multiple screen color options to facilitate reading for people with various visual impairments, and many more.
It is worth noting that following the addition of “Da’em” widget to the Library’s website, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina now ranks first locally, second regionally, and third continentally among public libraries providing this service to users with disabilities.
