Exploring Prospects of Academic and Research Cooperation between BA and Sharjah's Global Studies University

Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina has held an extensive meeting attended by the heads of the Library sectors, with a delegation from the Emirate of Sharjah, headed by Her Highness Sheika Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the Global Studies University (GSU) and ALECSO’s Extraordinary Ambassador for Arab Culture for the years 2025–2026, together with Prof. Salah Mohamed Hassan, Director of the Global Studies University (GSU).
The meeting discussed opportunities for collaboration in developing joint academic and research initiatives, enhancing scientific exchange, and leveraging the research and knowledge capacities of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina to support postgraduate studies and research activities. It highlighted a proposal to establish a BA Embassy of Knowledge or a specialized educational institution bearing the Library's name. It also explored opportunities for expansion in the fields of higher education and scientific research, in addition to examining the potential for developing academic programs, including joint degree and diploma programs.
Additionally, the two sides discussed areas of cooperation in documenting and preserving cultural heritage, as well as developing scientific and cultural activities that contribute to enhancing dialog and knowledge exchange.
