The financial costs of AD provide an incomplete
picture of the total burden. The emotional toll on patients and their
families is profound and a significant source of caregiver morbidity. Up to
half of primary caregivers patients develop significant psychological
distress. Thus, an economic assessment much underestimates the cost of AD,
unless quality of life of both patients and caregivers is included in the
analysis. |
