*Reference Librarians - Information Services Department (Recent Graduates)

The Information Services Department at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina invites you to join its volunteer program, which aims to empower young people to develop their practical and personal skills through a combination of training and volunteering. Participants will receive an intensive one-month training program (from 24 August - 24 September 2026) on reference services to assist users. They will also learn how to develop their personal skills that are required for the job market, such as effective communication, leadership, responsibility, time management, task organization, teamwork, problem solving, decision making, and self-confidence.

The actual volunteering period lasts three months until 31 December 2026, to provide an opportunity to gain practical experience, simulate the work environment, and contribute to achieving the Library's mission of serving scientific research and community development. 

Program objectives:

  • Enhance the professional and personal skills of young people.
  • Prepare them for the job market.
  • Instill the values of volunteer work and social responsibility.
  • At the end of the program, trainees receive a certificate of participation and a letter of appreciation for their efforts.

Program admission requirements:

  • Full-time commitment.
  • University degree (in any field).
  • Proficiency in English or French.
  • Proficiency in using computer software.

*Travel Officer - Travel and Logistics Department

The BA Travel and Logistics Department announces a new volunteering opportunity for a three-month period. Through its volunteering opportunities, the Library aims to form a base of volunteers and distinctively train them on logistical reservations and organizing conferences, an endeavor that contributes to achieving the Library's mission in community development.

Tasks:

  • Booking hotels in Egypt.
  • Booking transportation (buses, vans and limousines).
  • Booking airline tickets (domestic and international flights).
  • Booking catering (inside and outside the Library).
  • Organizing conferences and handling logistical tasks.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be between the ages of 21 and 30 years old.
  • Applicants must have a higher academic qualification.
  • Proficiency in word & Excel (preferably an ICDL certificate).
  • Proficiency in English.
  • The applicant must be a resident of Alexandria.
