Objective: The course aims to study the history of the Ptolemaic Kingdom from several aspects, such as the political, cultural, social, economic and administrative development and shedding light on the most important mega economic projects and their reflection on Alexandria at that time.

Content: The course deals with the Ptolemaic Kingdom that was formed after the division of the empire of Alexander the Great and the inauguration of Ptolemy I as King of Egypt. The article also deals with many aspects of the Kingdom's history, such as political development, wars, identity, society and culture, commerce, and economic and administrative life. The subject focuses on the political and economic aspects. The early Ptolemaic kings established many huge economic projects, in order to finance military, artistic and literary projects. The Ptolemaic era is characterized at the level of infrastructure by many works of building canals and waterways and the establishment of cities whose establishment was aimed at agriculture and the production of various commodities, such as olive oil and wine, these projects were also reflected in Alexandria, through the Shedia Canal and the Port of Alexandria and its commercial importance.
