Objective: This course aims to enable the student to deal with the ancient Greek language in a more comprehensive way, by explaining and translating texts, especially Greek Hellenistic texts.

Content: This course is an introduction to the study of the Greek language through the study of a number of literary and non-literary texts, such as papyri and inscriptions. Hence, by translating and explaining these texts, the language can be dealt with in a more comprehensive manner and in its political and social context. The course will be based on Greek Hellenistic texts, and will explain the different literary styles that were used in Egypt and other regions of the Hellenistic world. In the end, the student will be able to deal with the details of the vast majority of texts and writings.
