Objective: This course aims to study Neoplatonism and Hermeticism.

Content: This course begins with an introduction to Greek thought, and how philosophy moved from Athens to Alexandria in the Hellenistic period, when it became the new center of philosophy. The course will deal with an introduction to Hellenistic philosophy based on the collaboration of cultures and the birth of Neoplatonism. A number of philosophers from the 3rd to 5th centuries, in addition to the schools of Neoplatonism in their various phases, will be studied, as well as the study of other pivotal figures, such as Hypatia, Emblechus, Proclus, Herocles, Semelikius, and Damasius. It will also tackle the nature of texts and study the Platonic influences in the hermetic texts.
