7-11-2019

Brief:
The workshop will discuss the role of UNESCO in preserving the submerged cultural heritage in Egypt. The organization has played a significant role in this field since the 1960s. Over the years, this role has evolved and included numerous workshops and conferences aimed at highlighting the importance of the submerged cultural heritage and introducing various ideas for its recognition in Egypt. Recently, UNESCO's role in this regard has further developed with Egypt's official accession to the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage in 2017.

The seminar will feature presentations by experts from relevant institutions, including Alexandria University, the Ministry of Antiquities, UNESCO, and the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture. The seminar will also include contributions from representatives of various organizations and institutions interested in cultural heritage topics, such as the Ministries of Tourism, Higher Education, Education, Antiquities, Culture, and others.
