LYM Session - 8 March 2009

Our last meeting started with Mrs. Layla Abdel Hady’s word to the attendees, asking them to present their suggestions and ideas that would further better the program. Then she gave a brief presentation about the revival of the old Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the efforts paid before and after the inauguration of the new BA. Then,  she navigated official website of Bibliotheca Alexandrina shedding lights on different links and pages that would be useful to the LYM youth such as  the Supercourse and the Webcast links. Then, Mrs. Layla answered different questions raised by the youth about her own efforts in the library since 1993 and about volunteering in the BA.

Then, Israa Mohamed gave a presentation entitled “Think Pink” which talked themes like thinking management, negative and positive thinking, and the consequences of thinking negatively and how to come over them.

After that, Mohamed Mubarak made an announcement about the “Cinema Club” which will be held in the faculty of Medicine every Thursday at 12.30 pm. The movie of this week, on Thursday 12th of March, is “kung Fu Panda”. In addition, Islam El-Sayed made an announcement about “Alex fair” organized by the Planetarium Center, which is concerned with science and engineering. Islam announced the need for volunteers to help him do some research for the fair.

Our last presentation was a movie by Ahmed Mayssara entitled “Voluntary Work”. The movie included some scenes showing voluntary work either in Bibliotheca Alexandrina or outside it in different charity activities. Then, Mayssara asked some of the volunteers to narrate their own experience. Then, Mrs. Layla Abel Hady moderated the discussion that followed the presentations and during which different people including Mr. Ahmed Refaat stressed the importance of voluntary work.
