About BA-iNet 

At the dawn of the twenty-first century, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) assumed its leading role in the world as a center of excellence in knowledge and intellect. The Library has embarked on a new journey to connect those with common interests and expertise with the aim of facilitating knowledge development and enabling immediate and collaborative knowledge sharing, thus becoming a leading library and institution for the digital age and the new millennium.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina Information Networks (BA-iNet) takes on the role of reaching out to research and library community, being a source and a venture of superior multilingual resources in different fields, creating a community interest that undertakes research and analysis, as well as facilitation and coordination, with the aim of improving accessibility, availability and understanding of research information resources and services; and promoting the development of effective strategies for the benefit of researchers and all those interested in their findings.

Mission 

The BA-iNET aims to create different networks of information exchange among the academic and scientific community, locally and internationally. Fostering collaborative efforts through technology and training, the BAiNET brings its members closer to their peers in different countries by providing opportunities of interaction and resource sharing among them. Users can explore new ideas, get introduced to new services, and learn from one another.

Objectives

  • Offer BA-iNET members a wider access to a collection of electronic resources.
  • Offer library professionals learning opportunities to increase the skills and competencies that enable them to make the best use of cutting edge innovations in librarianship and information services.
  • Empower researchers and research institutions by providing them with access to the world’s latest scholarly literature and high-quality research.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations.
  • Provide BAiNET members, both peers and experts, with a platform for sharing experiences, research best practices, as well as offering authorship skills enhancement.

Bibliotheca Alexandrina Information for Africa (BAIFA)

BAIFA is an information service for African countries, offering free access to more than 10,000 e-resources and publications in 5 different languages as well as online training programs.

Francophone Network

Francophone Network provide a number of virtual services aimed at serving the Francophone community, professionals, information specialists and researchers.
