Seminars & Conferences: Philosophy during the Hellenistic Period in Alexandria


Academics from all over the Mediterranean attended the two-day conference organized by Alex Med at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina from 8–10 March 2006 and which covered many aspects of philosophy in Hellenistic Alexandria. Topics raised included how Alexandra’s neo-Platonic and Gnostic schools of philosophy had later significantly influenced movements such as the European Renaissance.
