Seminars & Conferences: The Presence of Italian Architects in Mediterranean Countries


A two day international conference on Italian architects in the Mediterranean was held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina from 15–16 November 2007. The organizing committee included representatives from the universities of Milan, Bologna, Calabria, Firenze, Genoa, Naples, Palermo, Trieste and Udine, as well as the Alex Med center, the GDRI (Groupement de Recherche international) A2M “Architectures modernes en Méditerranée” affiliated to the CNRS, and the managing committee of MUSOMED.

The four axes of the conferences were:
- The role of Italians in the south of the Mediterranean and North Africa
- The role of Italian institutions in development
- Italian professionals in the east of the Mediterranean
- The role of Italian professionals in Egypt
