On 21 December 2005 on the occasion of the 9th International Literature Symposium, Kavafia 2005, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina hosted a concert by the Orpheus Trio, organized jointly by the Greek Embassy in Egypt and Alex Med. The program included music by a selection of Greek composers.
Other events accompanying the symposium included two film screenings on 22 December 2005: one of an adaptation of a novel by Kazantzakis, and the other of a film adaptation of a novel by Naguib Mahfouz.
