On 16 December 2008, Alex Med organized a conference on “Memory and the City” highlighting some of the memories of the different communities of Alexandria. The one day conference ended with a roundtable discussion with the participation of the Director of Alex Med, Dr Mohamed Awad, Dr Moufid Assabgui, the Alexandrian novelist Ibrahim Abdelmeguid, and the archeologist and director of the Centre d’Études Alexandrines, Jean-Yves Empereur.
