Under the supervision of the Advisors for Special Projects Office at the Library of Alexandria, the LYM youth paid a field visit to Middle East Oil Refinery (MEDOR) on February the 5th, 2009. Seventy youth from different educational backgrounds participated in the event that started at 10.15 am and lasted for about 4 hours.
The youth first attended an introductory lecture by Dr. Hemdan during which they learnt about the different activities and products of the refinery. Right after the lecture, the youth had a discussion with Dr. Hemdan during which they raised different questions concerning the impact of the refinery on the surrounding environment and other technical issues. Then, the youth had a tour around the refinery accompanied by Dr. Heman during which they saw different units in the refinery.
